新聞充斥著九把刀劈腿和食安問題，不過提出波特五力分析(five forces analysis)策略的國際管理大師Michael E. Porter(麥可波特)來台，是應該更值得去了解一下的訊息。畢竟，也需要有國際性和知性的內容，來平衡一下過度氾濫的新聞。不過，這個"波特"絕對不是Harry Potter(哈利波特)裡的波特XD。

國際管理大師波特受邀來台 認為台灣競爭力與薪資不成正比 (引自新聞+個人簡評)
國際競爭力管理大師麥可‧波特(Michael E. Porter)，應邀遠見天下文化事業群訪台並舉行"打造有競爭力的台灣論壇"。今天上午則先跟總統馬英九進行早餐會，2人會談90分鐘，主題是如何打造有競爭力的台灣。麥可.波特表示，台灣的競爭力在全球144個國家中排名第18，薪資所得卻排名第60名。這個現象既奇怪也很令人擔心，對台灣的競爭力不利，必須要找出原因所在。他認為，因為薪資調整跟生產力與競爭力是相輔相成的。

波特認為，台灣的經濟表現其實並不差，過去10年台灣的經濟表現優於韓國，尤其是在科技研究以及美國申請專利部分，台灣的"人均"專利申請是世界冠軍，但問題在於台灣勞動人口的薪資沒有成長，無法提升競爭力，一定要找出原因，因為薪資調整跟生產力、競爭力是相輔相成的。此外，法規框架、賦稅制度及人才外流等問題，也是台灣未來重要的挑戰。
波特提到台灣可以作為進入中國的重要門戶，也可以成為進入東協國家的先進生產中心。但他也坦承，台灣在跨國企業的投資環境不如新加坡等國，在台灣做生意並不容易。根據世界銀行調查，不論對外資在財產登記、借錢、取得信用、稅賦、契約規定等要求簡直是一場災難，為何要有這麼多的障礙？拿槍打自己的腳，韓國與新加坡都比台灣好太多，馬英九應該下令改善。
(早在1995年之前，李登輝當總統時就曾提出的"亞太營運中心計畫"，廣設大學希望提升國民全體素質，成為亞洲高階人才的輸出中心；立意良善，但空有理想願景卻無法實現目標，反倒是搞到台灣大學生素質越來越差，但其實頂尖名校的學生影響不大，算是失敗的大型政策)
此外，他也建議台灣對中國以外的國家開放，應該更主動，減少做生意的成本，將台灣變成容易做生意的地方。他發現台灣人很焦慮，很多人擔心兩岸關係對台灣經濟的影響，但台灣的經濟成長讓很多先進國家羨慕，韓國確實有些大財團與世界品牌，但台灣的生產力勝過韓國，經濟表現良好，購買力很好，在美國申請專利的排名世界第1，可惜的是，台灣的創意並沒有發揮最大效益，並沒有因此誕生更多的公司。
(史達克淺見認為，台灣除了是用低薪和爆肝的健康成本，換取帳面上經濟數字的可看性之外，根本毫無優勢，申請無用的專利衝數字一直是台灣自High，沒有意義)
他分析台灣的優勢包含具有產業聚落與科技研發人員，劣勢是企業留不住人才、法規不夠嚴謹、人才外流、在台經商成本高、關稅高，對外資不夠友善等。波特認為，過去10年台灣保持現狀沒有關係，但隨著世界其他國家不斷進步，台灣若無法進步就是退步。

波特是全球著名的經濟大師，他以競爭策略的研究著稱，融合產業經濟學、企業管理學，建立優勢競爭的理論基礎，他曾2度訪台於1997年提出開放社會，為當時台灣指出前瞻發展方向，2010年在兩岸經濟合作架構協議ECFA簽訂前訪台，並直言ECFA是開啟台灣歷史新章的關鍵。

What is Porter five forces analysis?
Five forces analysis is a framework to analyse level of competition within an industry and business strategy development. It draws upon industrial organization (IO) economics to derive five forces that determine the competitive intensity and therefore attractiveness of a market. Attractiveness in this context refers to the overall industry profitability.
An "unattractive" industry is one in which the combination of these five forces acts to drive down overall profitability. A very unattractive industry would be one approaching "pure competition", in which available profits for all firms are driven to normal profit. This analysis is associated with its principal innovator Michael E. Porter of Harvard University (as of 2014).

Porter referred to these forces as the micro environment, to contrast it with the more general term macro environment. They consist of those forces close to a company that affect its ability to serve its customers and make a profit. A change in any of the forces normally requires a business unit to re-assess the marketplace given the overall change in industry information. The overall industry attractiveness does not imply that every firm in the industry will return the same profitability.
Firms are able to apply their core competencies, business model or network to achieve a profit above the industry average. A clear example of this is the airline industry. As an industry, profitability is low and yet individual companies, by applying unique business models, have been able to make a return in excess of the industry average.
Porter's five forces include - three forces from 'horizontal' competition: the threat of substitute products or services, the threat of established rivals, and the threat of new entrants; and two forces from 'vertical' competition: the bargaining power of suppliers and the bargaining power of customers.
Porter developed his Five Forces analysis in reaction to the then-popular SWOT analysis, which he found unrigorous and ad hoc. Porter's five forces is based on the Structure-Conduct-Performance paradigm in industrial organizational economics. It has been applied to a diverse range of problems, from helping businesses become more profitable to helping governments stabilize industries. Other Porter strategic frameworks include the value chain and the generic strategies.
